I will be honest. I'm feeling a bit distracted. I'm just not "feeling it". I don't know why, exactly. It happens every so often. Laundry piles up. Paper piles stack up. The school room needs organizing. The kitchen needs a good scrub. Bills need to be paid. "To-dos" need to be done. I start to get a bit overwhelmed and then I get distracted and I just don't feel like thinking about school.
On top of my own distractions, Daddy's work schedule just changed (unexpectedly) to Tuesday through Saturday. That means Monday is out for school. I need to rethink my schedule.
This week in particular, we went on our all day shopping extravaganza (groceries) yesterday. That was Monday. We have a pretty major field trip Thursday, so that day is out. It is currently 9:41 am on Tuesday and I'm not yet prepared. This Sunday is Easter and I have not figured out my plans or anything for that. So, if I'm lucky, we can possibly squeeze in some school Wednesday, Friday and maybe Saturday. We'll see.
Did I mention that I was feeling a bit distracted?
I look forward to the day that these girls are more responsible for their own education. That is the goal, of course. I want to raise independent, life-long learners. When that day comes, if Momma is distracted or has a to-do list that is just too long, then their educations will be able to continue without me.
But, today, in this season of our life, they are 7 and 9. I am trying to gradually hand more things over to them (well, the Hippie anyway). But, at this point, our school day revolves around Momma.
All of this to say that I make no guarantee that this plan will actually take place this week. I'm hoping it will. I just planned out the next term and I really needed to finish these things before we move on. But, it's a possibility that things won't quite work out exactly as I planned. Do they ever?

We will be attending our weekly Waldorf Handwork group as well as going on a fantastic field trip with our Homeschool Adventures Group (I'm sure you understand, but for security reasons, I do not share details).

ReplyDeleteI so wish we had a waldorf handwork group nearby us in Fort Worth, Texas. That would mean we would actually do it, instead of me putting it off for ages!!

Thanks for stopping by and finally saying hi. I feel you about the handwork. Unfortunately, that is not something that we do at home, either. When my girls feel like making something, THEY do it. But, we don't do it as part of our school. I'm just not that crafty. But, they really enjoy doing the group once a week. And, it squeezes in a Waldorf circle time. Again, something that only happens there. :) I know my strengths and weaknesses. Waldorf handwork and circle are not on my list of strengths. Nice to "meet" you.
